It looks like your rabbit is loosing hair or shedding, well it is! molting is when a rabbit looses its coat (shedding) and grows a new coat, this is also known as �blowing their coat�. a molt can last from 2 to 6 weeks, or more, it varies from rabbit to rabbit and from breed to breed. the rabbit molts regularly at different stages in its life.. The reason people can make angora coats out of rabbit hair is because the angora rabbit constantly grows and sheds that nice long hair. the dutch rabbit is related to the angora and does the same thing. that's really interesting!. From what i've read, rabbits can get hairballs but it's very dangerous for them because they can't cough it up like cats do. that's why it's extra important to keep them brushed more than usual while they are shedding because if it accumulates in their tummies it can cause a blockage..

Therefore domestic rabbits seem to have a more variable moulting pattern. some rabbits and especially house rabbits will appear to moult almost constantly! when rabbits moult, they typically start by shedding fur from their head, which spreads down the neck and back and then down the sides of their body, finishing on their rump.. My rabbit seems to always be shedding. his fur looks like it needs to be brushed but if i brush him it creates a huge bald patch. i don't know what to do! in the picture you can see it's dark around his shedding areas. it seems to always look like that! any help on what to do is very appreciated!. Why is my rabbit shedding so much? i have a mini lop. he is a couple years old and recently has been shedding so much. his cage gets full of fur everyday. i brushed him and the amount of fur that came off of him was enormous. it could have made a new bunny. i never saw so much fur come off a rabbit and you can see it on his body.....
