Rabbit Shedding Too Much
Another cause can be a diet with too much energy. if you are feeding vegetables, fruits, or a pellet ration with too much energy it will cause your rabbit to get fat which can be seen by the fur on its body getting loose around the shoulders. a diet with too much energy can cause a rabbit to shed.. If all things are normal, the shed areas will regrow fur as the old coat falls out. some unfortunate rabbits seem to shed all the time. this may be due to inbreeding causing a problem with the normal genetic response to day length and other seasonal cues, or to too much artificial lighting disrupting the rabbit's normal circadian rhythms. in. Why is my rabbit shedding so much? i have a mini lop. he is a couple years old and recently has been shedding so much. his cage gets full of fur everyday. i brushed him and the amount of fur that came off of him was enormous. it could have made a new bunny. i never saw so much fur come off a rabbit and you can see it on his body.....
I wouldnt worry too much, my bunny boo is a very short haired polish and she had a full body molt only a few weeks ago. althought it seemed to happen in stages at first i could pull big clumps out her butt and she developed these weird cartoon eyebrows.. This is also why frequent brushing is necessary, particularly during the major shedding periods. calcium and your rabbit rabbits metabolize all the calcium they eat. because of this too much calcium can be very harmful to your pet. this can include various forms of dental disease and bladder sludge. in extreme cases kidney stones are possible.. Shedding can cause health problems in your rabbit. rabbits have a slow-moving digestive system, so hair that they swallow as they groom themselves can build up in the stomach, developing into a hairball. regular grooming can remove loose hair and reduce the risk of your rabbit developing hairballs..
